Hotmail: now Gmail and Yahoo! hacked
Hotmail: now Gmail and Yahoo! hacked.
Over the past few days there has been a mass breach of security with Gmail (Google mail), Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. This breach has been caused by phishing attacks to users, whereby a hacker gains information from that user that can be used to reset an account password.
Babeltech urges all customers to make sure that any security question used when creating an account is not something that is then posted on any social networking site (facebook, etc), and is something that is extremely private. Read the rest of this entry »

Use dropbox to backup your files – for FREE!
Dropbox is a web based application that we use everyday. Essentially, it will upload the contents of a folder on your computer to the web for backup. If you have dropbox on two or more computers, it will synchronize the contents of that folder realtime, so that no matter what you are working on, it will be both saved to the web and to the other computers you use.
Dropbox is quite safe, using standard SSL encryption for the webpage, and AES-128bit encryption for all file transfers. If you’re interested in using dropbox, please click on the following link: Dropbox. Or you can send us an email or give us a call to find out more. As we’ve already said, it’s free up to 2Gb!
iPhone OS 3.1 out now, along with new iTunes 9
Apple released its latest iteration of iTunes last week, vastly improving the user layout and accessibility for iPhone and iPod Touch users. As well as providing mechanisms by which iPhone and iTouch users can change the layout of their screens, Apple upgraded the Operating System on the iPhone and iTouch itself.
For business exchange users, this means more security when using Microsoft Exchange. For home users, this means compatibility with the latest itunes, as well as ability to use Genius Mixes and Genius suggestions for apps. For more info: http://www.apple.com/au/itunes/overview/ or send us an email.
FUMZUP™ – Makes Choosing Easy
Fumzup is a new Australian website where you can easily compare offers for loans, broadband internet, mobile phones etc. Seems like a reasonable site for a quick overview of your needs. As always, please contact Babeltech if you need any help with your broadband or mobile phone setup.
Change to Gmail or Hotmail instead of using your ISP email
One of the consistent problems we face at Babeltech is our clients being unable to transfer to a better or cheaper internet service provider because they have associated all their email contacts with that providers supplied address – ie, babeltech@bigpond.com or babeltech@iinet.com.au. We suggest that you choose a third party email provider, such that your ISP can be accountable to poor service standards without the potential loss of your email. For more information, please see Gmail or Hotmail signup pages.
